Our kitchen furniture gets treated poorly all of the time. We stand on the chairs instead of using step stools. We cut out cookies on the table top because we have run out of counter space to do it. We plop down hot pots, hammer out meat and everything else we can think of to do. Our kitchen furniture has to put up with any number of abuses and still come out looking pretty good. Using the toughest materials that are still appealing is a good idea, as is protecting the table and chairs whenever possible, even we have to protect them from ourselves.
